The Search for Truth and Meaning in an Art Museum

Art Museums and UU churches have a lot in common. Art Museums are places where one might find things that lead them to finding truth and meaning in their lives, or be able to see the worth and dignity of a subject matter that they may not have been able to see, or be inspired to care for our earth and home in a new way, or engage them in advocacy towards a free and just world for all. One may hear music and read texts that challenge their thinking. They may even weep at an artwork that connects to them in ways they never considered. The UU principles can be explored in many ways, why not an art museum?

Christina Barbachano is an artist, educator, and now the Executive Director of the Holter Museum of Art in Helena, MT. She is a almost a life-long UU and also searches for truth and meaning in her own studio practice. She lives in Helena, MT in a household of highly creative humans who challenge her thinking and help her learn new things about herself and this beautiful world every day.
