UUFB and Family Promise
Since 2006, Family Promise of Gallatin Valley in Montana has been a non-profit organization working with a large base of local volunteers to provide shelter, meals, training, and many other necessities to bring lasting solutions to families in need. They empower homeless families with children to achieve self-sufficiency through partnerships, services, and advocacy.
How does UUFB help?
Five weeks a year, UUFB partners with St. James Episcopal Church to host homeless families at the St. James Rectory building that is located next to the church at 5 W. Olive St., Bozeman.
UUFB splits the duties of hosting with St. James: we take Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of the weeks we are assigned. During those weeks, each night we need:
- 2 volunteers to share the preparation of the evening meal (no training necessary)
- 2 evening hosts to help from 5:30-8:30 p.m. (requires FP training)
- 1 overnight host who stays from 8:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. the next morning (requires FP training)
