World Central Kitchen is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises throughout the world. Within days of the initial Russian invasion, WCK began serving meals to families traveling long distances and waiting for hours at various border crossings in Poland, Romania, Moldova, Hungary, and Slovakia. At the same time, urgent food needs quickly grew within Ukraine. For residents who remain either in their homes or the millions of people who have traveled west and are internally displaced, WCK mobilized local restaurants, expanding response to provide hot meals at train stations, shelters, hospitals, and directly to people in their homes. A very generous donor has agreed to match UUFB donations to WCK up to $5,000. SJAC has designated WCK as UUFB’s 5th Sunday in May collection recipient.
