Description or Charge of the Team

Address the safety and security of our congregation, including child protection, health threats, building security, and other potential risks.  Prepare or revise related policies and practices as needed.  Engage with others in UUFB to educate on safety issues.  This Team became inactive in 2021 and is being reconstituted.

Duties of a Team Member

Team Meetings:

  • Meetings are likely to be in-person with option for hybrid in-person/on-line.
  • Prepare for meetings by reviewing agendas and related materials.
  • Attend scheduled meetings regularly; inform the chair in advance if unable to attend.
  • Volunteer for assignments that match your skills, interests, and time.
  • Follow up on meeting assignments.

Team Activities:

  • Research best practices in congregational safety.
  • Evaluate current UUFB policies.
  • Recommend policy changes or new policies to the Board.
  • Continue to keep abreast of new developments in the field of congregational safety.
  • Assess evolving safety practices and needs.

Approximate time per month for Team Meetings

  • Meetings are 60 minutes.
  • Meetings may be scheduled less than monthly, depending on needed activities; a minimum of 2 meetings per year is needed to review UUFB needs.

Approximate additional time per month for other Team work or activities

  • Meeting preparation: 30-60 minutes.
  • Time for follow-up assignments will vary from 1 to 10 hours.

Number of openings for new Team Members

  • The ideal Team size is 3-5.
