At this holy time of the ancient harvest holiday of Mabon we celebrate the harvest in the fields and in our lives. The twin blessings of abundance and sacrifice are central to harvest time. The blessing of balance is also celebrated at this point in the turning of the year, as is the preparation of turning within as we move into the darkening time of the sacred cycle.
After 30 years in active pulpit ministry in Centers for Spiritual Living, serving three communities, Karyl Huntley-Sadler retired from 24/7 ministering and moved to rural England in 2019 with her new husband to write, counsel, and live close to the ancestors, to honor the distinct seasons in village life, and continue her spiritual expression in a Church of England church, where she rings 600 year old bells on Sunday mornings.
In her life prior to the ministry Karyl had careers in high school teaching and college textbook publishing. She has lived on both coasts of America and traveled to many places in the world, leading tours to sacred sites in Great Britain and Europe for 10 years.
In her ministry, Karyl is noted for her skill and experience in marking life passages with meaningful ritual and ceremony. She served Centers for Spiritual Living at the national level in ritual creation for regional and international meetings, taught ceremony to ministerial students, and taught via zoom to ritual students worldwide. She has created rituals in sacred, educational, community, and family settings for decades. Her first book, Real Life Rituals, has been used as a textbook, and a resource book for ministries, families, and organizations. Her second book, Celebrate with Ritual, goes further into the power of ritual, identifying seven purposes of ritual and how to accomplish them.
This service will be held in person and online.
