A conscientious objector during WWII, William Stafford wrote of peace, from the courage of conviction. Growing up on the high plains of Kansas and living his adult life in Oregon, he wrote of and for the natural world in the American West. Sometimes described as “wild” or “fierce,” he wrote movingly about community. He has much to tell us about ourselves and our moment here in Montana. Along with a bit of background about Stafford’s life and work, this service will feature UUFB members readings of several of his poems.
