Revs. Dr. Norbert and Maja Capek founded a Unitarian congregation in what is now the Czech Republic, during the 1920s. Serving people who had rejected Catholicism and its rituals, they created a Flower Celebration to replace Communion. During WW2, Rev. Norbert Capek was captured, incarcerated in Dachau, and later martyred for his inclusive faith and preaching. Having returned to the United States, Rev. Maja introduced the Flower Celebration to Unitarian congregations here. We invite all to participate in the Flower Celebration and to honor the spirit of their ministry and ours, a ministry that welcomes and affirms all.
