John Adams, one of our Unitarian forebears, had a significant role in crafting our U.S. Constitution. The preamble of the Constitution lifts up the concepts of peace, liberty, and justice. Like Adams and many other of our Unitarian andUniversalist forebears, our faith tradition has sought to advance each of these values since before the founding of this country. It is not surprising then that our Sixth Principle sets forth the very lofty goal of peace, liberty, and justice for all. The contributions of Adams have significantly increased the peace, liberty, and justice of many people living in this county. What might any one of us be able to do today to further these enduring and important values in our country and world?
