News reports from this country and around the world of late have been filled with stories of religious intolerance. Prejudice and discrimination, two elements of religious intolerance, have existed within and between religious groups for centuries. As Unitarian Universalists, we strive to promote religious tolerance as we accept one another and encourage spiritual growth in our congregations. This year we celebrate the 450 year anniversary of King John Sigismund’s proclamation of religious tolerance. As the ruler of Transylvania, he holds the distinction of being the one and only Unitarian King of a nation.
