Some religious faith traditions propose that faith is, at its very foundation, about what a person believes. Religious creeds are one outcome of such a perspective. Unitarian Universalism, however, has no creed, no statement of belief that all members must acknowledge. Unitarian Universalism is a covenantal faith, not a creedal faith. We do not rest comfortably with one fixed belief. The Fourth Principle of Unitarian Universalism calls us to “a free and responsible search for truth and meaning.” Such a free and responsible search requires a continual renewal of faith as we question, explore, learn and grow in all aspects of life.
