Looking to our Unitarian Universalist tradition, we can find examples of how to pay attention. It might mean following the advice of contemporary Unitarian Universalist minister James Ishmael Ford. In a July issue of Shambhala Sun magazine, he suggested, what sounds a bit UU– “Sit down. Shut up. Pay attention.” We can do this wherever we are, in whatever situation we find ourselves. He adds that by sitting down, shutting up, and paying attention, “You never know when it will reveal what is true and what is fake.”
